At Apple a Day Films LLC we have realized that filmmaking is not just about pointing a camera. Even with great shooting technique, savvy editing won't make a film sing. The underpinnings of a good film are more basic: thorough research, strong writing, a sense of purpose. Good rapport with subjects and an intimate understanding of the topic at hand help convey an important message. These fundamentals help frame every shot and help craft every edit of a truly compelling piece. Apple a Day Films is the brainchild of Joshua Kreiss, M.D., M.Phil. Dr. Kreiss is a graduate of Haverford College (B.A. in Spanish-German Comparative Literature), Oxford University's Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology (Masters of Philosophy, or M.Phil.) and Brown University Medical School.
Dr. Kreiss has been a filmmaker since 1994. Two of his ethnographic films are in the U.S. Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. He founded Apple a Day Films LLC in January 2005 as a way to combine his love of filmmaking and passion for improving the quality of health education through clear audio-visual communication of sensitive topics which, as people and as patients, affect us all.
Kim Santilli joined the “Apple a Day” family as Business Manager in August 2006.
With over 25 years of experience in administrative & IT services, Kim’s expertise
in streamlining and organizational skills have been a proven asset to Apple a Day Films.
Apple a Day Films produces educational films for patients and their healthcare educators. Films promoting healthcare institutions are also written, directed and produced. Dr. Kreiss is available to speak at meetings and conventions on health-related topics.
